Default Another victim of the War on Drugs

How sad is this story! 25 years of effective pain management and suddenly this man has to live a life filled with pain. The image is startling but not surprising.

One point in this story that struck me is that we have come a long way in saving lives but have gone backward in helping those people deal with chronic pain associated with saving them. I can imagine that some people probably wished they’d been allowed to die with dignity rather than live a humiliating life filled with pain.

Ugh. While we're talking about defunding the police (which we should not be doing - we should be reforming the concept of policing in this country) we ought to defund the DEA while we're at it. This is an agency that has always caused more problems than it's solved.

Like yourself, Pain News Network is a valuable voice in this Darkness caused by the CDC with their inhumane bogus data.

You wrote in a different thread "I also really miss the days when it was relatively easy to find a doctor who understood that treating pain was important to overall health. What good does it do to force someone to try ibuprophen or Tylenol and kill their liver, kidneys, and cause stomach bleeds? Even their own product information says that it’s for MILD-Moderate pain. If they aren’t claiming that it will help severe pain then why do doctors keep pushing it?"

Nearly two years ago when my LA med was titrated down because of the CDC, I began over compensating with the NSAID meds. After 7 months of forced hell, I asked to go to the ER with severe abdominal pain. I was admitted. During my admission, the Gastro specialist ran blood tests and ordered an upper GI. Voila. I had a bleeding Esophagus and Duodenal ulcer. No more Aspirin, Ibuprofen or Naproxen. No more NSAID meds, whether OTC or Rx.

If anything happens to me - like the ulcer begins bleeding again (if my Rx "breakthrough" med that I take PRN for severe pain and I must make it stretch the 30 days), my adult daughter and son are instructed to SUE THE CDC. Severe abdominal pain is no picnic. Went to the ER 6 times before 7th visit was a "charm" with its nasty news confirming ULCER.

Opiate medication has its place in health care when prescribed by a pain specialist.

I am afraid of having a Colonscopy........suppose my weight loss (went over 2 years from 145 down to 114lbs) is because of cancer? Colon cancer is silent. Sometimes my "piles" bleed.

This entire CDC set of 2016 "guidelines" is bunk and is causing physiological Holocaust among patients suffering pain. I smell a CDC "rat". Where is our Democracy?????

  5. It is such a tragedy that the medicine required to allow somebody to get out of bed and function, get in the shower, get their pants on etc. has been restricted to such a degree.

  6. The multiple surgical scars on my back used to be enough for a sporadic one month refill. Now I'm almost twisting in my seat just for a 7 day supply.....of tram! Even my Dr shakes his head. Spooked to even try Pain Management clinics. Heard horror stories

I'm genuinely sorry you have to deal with that. It's horrible seeing anyone in pain just because the system is completely busted and they make the liars and crooks ruin it for the good people.
