Good Morning @vapestar. You're very welcome & I'm glad we are friends too. I'm a shy type of person too so that's why I think I hide out in the music thread. lol Anyway, thank you & you have a lovely day my friend![]()

In threads etc. Sigh... Life as a Caregiver SUCKS. I am not cut out for this, but yet I have no choice and have found that Siblings once one starts helping they ALL disappear. Except for Bdays and Holidays. Even then they don't do Shit...
So majorly Depressed. Loving my Wine. Turning Grey and becoming a sobbing idiot with Hallmark Christmas Movies.
Miss you all.
P.S. I have Thanksgiving off. YAY
I just have to have it Saturday so All can attend... Lol, my Brother will bring Wine and Cheese for Appetizers. I get to cook from Turkey to Pie... Life is Grand
I'm so very sorry, Jazie. I can relate to what you wrote. I wish you well.
You’ve been missed. Women have been taught to care for other people until they are exhausted. As you know, there is a roomful of advise on self care for caregivers. But telling caregivers what to do without social support just blames them for not taking care of themselves. Many in our country are stuck due to lack of funding for Adult Day Care and poorly functioning hired caregivers. If there were more men doing this, I have no question that there would be laws to protect family caregivers. And the statistic that 40% of caregivers dying before the people they are caretaking is now up to 66% according to UC Davis Alzheimer’s Clinic. This is killing a group that is predominately women.
If the $ resources are available, can you hire care for a few hours or a day to meet with friends or a self care day at least once a month? Something to look forward to, not just day after day of the same grind. If we don’t practice self care, we come to resent our loved one. Also, for your family to expect you to host and cook a full holiday dinner is outrageous. I hope you will express yourself in exactly what you expect from them to be more of a support system for you to continue on in a healthy manner. If they don’t listen to you, can you have a doctor facilitate an open discussion to spell out what your loved one needs in the terms of care? Perhaps a pastor or priest? Maybe if someone else says it and a plan is agreed to, you can start working towards a more balanced life.
