When I first realized all prescribed items were tracked in a shared database around 2008 I stopped asking for prescriptions from my Dr unless I had lost an arm or if it was something major.

It was not so much that they tracked things but I read online that Dr's often look at the list and then may decide you have an addiction risk and so they wont prescribe anything narcotic in some cases even when you really have an urgent need.
Along the lines of others posts/experiences in this thread.

Glad I am not alone in my paranoia.

my ear nose throat doctor brought up my records (all prescription records from all prescribers) on his computer in the ear cleaning chair and then had me select the doseage of meds i wanted him to prescribe

    uhhhhhhh

    invasion of my privacy much?

    all doctors/nurses can do this

nurses can do it in place of the doctor or for the doctor..

  4. In my state you have to be in the same network of Droctors in with your insurance covers just went
    Through this kind of thing

  5. Where I live yes they see every prescription you take. I think it's fine, now I don't have to write everything down for every appointment with a specialist I have to see, I have nothing to hide. :-)

  7. Yeah I was definitely surprised when an addictions counselor Pulled all my scripts, including a recent Ambien script.

Made me feel pretty stupid, as I had never mentioned Ambien during my "assessment."

They actually didn't seem to really care. I think once you are a member of their "club," you are good to go. Even if there are questionable meds. As long as you stay honest from then on.

Then I would make sure the nurse charted everything. I mean if I didn't want to lose my new fav doc. I have been accused of over - thinking.

    Hope this helps!

PS: don't be fooled into believing if you pay cash vs insurance you won't hit the database--doesn't matter--it gets reported no matter!
This is a good idea, but maybe say You got confused and didn’t realize he had prescribed pain meds you were expecting something else, and when you realized what had happened you put them aside”. Saying you didn’t know Doctor shopping wasn’t allowed is conceding you were trying to score more pain meds in the first place. Probably won’t go over that well

  9. anyone in the know have detailed information on this subject? as it used to be certain states only etc etc. haven't seen any specifics in a whille.

    Ridiculous for hydro 5/325mg
In NY here its almost if not impossible to get a doctor to write a script for this hydro 5/325mg. My MRI's show nothing left in my spine, and shows the bone spurs everywhere, but they want the pain management facilities used instead which do not work on the real spinal column.

shelby96 will become famous soon enough

The last time I was at the doctor they had a record of every time I filled a medication at the pharmacy. There is no such thing as medical privacy anymore. That is why I get most of my meds online from overseas, except my maintenance meds.

My doctor has records of what he gave me for a prescription but the drug stores are the ones that know what I have filled for prescriptions. I went in 2 days early to get my prescription at the drug store and they told me I have too wait two more days until I can fill my script. If it’s nothing important, they won’t bother you. But if something for anxiety , they will make me wait for it on the exact date.

  13. It might be different from state to state or my doctors don't check. The only time they've been able to see what I take is if I give them my pharmacy that fills prescriptions. I think if they saw what one doctor prescribed the other wouldn't prescribe what they do (or in some cases the same thing). Still seems like a lack of privacy since some prescriptions you might not take or you might go to a different doctor for a second opinion.

  14. I was wondering about this but I don't think they're interconnected in Ireland yet ????

They may not have bothered to look before...but with opioid crack down that seems to be changing big time.

Glad I am not the only one that has been told it’s too soon to fill that one. I changed insurance companies one year and had to see a different Dr from another hospital and they were linked to the other hospital.
