Thread: NY Customs (2019 Thread) - Recent Experiences?

  1. Quick update, 2 letters ordered from the UK and shipped last Monday are out for delivery today. No ISC delays at all, some scans were missing, but the timing is right on par. Hope everyone is having success.

EDIT, and both received, via a very pretty delivery woman I didn't recognize. I suppose my door will be burst in within the next 10 minutes :/

  3. That is good news. Unfortunately my reship is stuck in ISC AGAIN! Always before when I have received my packages they make it out in 1 day or so. Is it normal that they stay there a few days? Its day 3 for my package and I don't know what to think. Hopefully a few days is typical even though I have never had it take more than 1. Can someone chime in if so? I'm a basket case. I don't want a second LL.

My packages come through NY customs and I have had them sit there for a variety of time lengths. While typically it takes 2 days for mine to clear, I did have one sit in NY ISC for 13 days! That's definitely not a record here but was for me. I'm sure it will move for you soon.

I've had great good luck with NY, FWIW. Very few items (from vendors here, or from unrelated things) ever sit more than a day or two, depending on whether a holiday/weekend is included. Most of my (post delivery*) tracking issues have been the fault of the USPS delivery/update system just not being very good; I frequently receive packages before the tracking system updates, sometimes several days early. *I gave up on tracking my own packages in real time, many years ago, because it gave me heartache/heartburn, so I usually go back and look at tracking data after an item has been delivered, just so I can see whether it was speedy or tardy, and/or to report that for others to know.

  6. There’s always the possibility it will get stuck in ISC for a few days. I’ve seen anywhere from 1 hour to 7 days. Don’t worry, it’ll come

  7. Luck is still holding strong, had another 5-day delivery today from the land of Brexit, it went through ISC in no time, the letter even made an extra stop at an unusual regional sort facility along the way, making it all the more impressive.

Now, if I can can conserve and exercise some self control, I'll be stocked for a while.

They (vendors since I communicated with two people) seemed a bit surprised too in a good way that I got it in just four days, and I wonder why? Why is UK has such a problem (perhaps LA that has better equipment for the CBP Agents?) or shipping flow is lighter, who knows. I wish to know why UK is being checked while packages from China fly through like a charm? You know all those $1-$3 items? They come from China be it jewelry or clothing or phone case. I don’t mean meds thou (not sure if China has any IOP), I order jewelry and some cheaper apparel, but a sealed package is a sealed package. So, I am trying to understand why UK is having more issues than China?
@Enthusiastic85 I thought you said your POE was Jamaica, NY, not Los Angeles. Did the letter go thru NY customs or LA?

  9. Okay guys, this is a first for me. My tracking showed “your item cleared US customs on xx/xx” for 6 weeks. Now all of a sudden it shows “Item received by postal operator in country of destination; Postcode US” on international tracking. And now US tracking says “label created, not yet In system” when just yesterday it was showing “inbound out of customs” and “your item cleared US Customs on xx/xx”

Anyone else get an update like this?

Tracking numbers have limited lifetimes. After after a time it’s basically reinitialized. All old tracking number will do that. 6 weeks is a bit short for that, but that’s not the total lifetime of the tracking number - When was it shipped? If it was 8 weeks ago, then that’s probably too old now. I haven’t had a tracking number older that 12 days for years now...

In the past, one of mine was there for 11 days and another time it was there for 22 days. All orders are different, there's no rhyme or reason with USPS.

  12. I have an International Express Mail package that's been stuck at 'inbound into customs' since the 15th. Anyone else experiencing similar delays at JFK?

Mine usually route to Ny but I have one that hit SF since the 15th and nothing has updated since then...
I have another that should be hitting NY like two days ago but nothing showing that’s reached the US.

    My nerves are rattled !!!
