What is/are Repaglinide?

Generic Prandin (REPAGLINIDE) is used to treat type 2 (non-insulin dependent) diabetes, either alone or in combination with other anti-diabetes medicines, as part of a diet and exercise program.

Repaglinide is an antidiabetic drug in the class of medications known as meglitinides, and was invented in 1983. It is sold by Novo Nordisk under the name of Prandin in the U.S., GlucoNorm in Canada, Surepost in Japan, Repaglinide in Egypt by EIPICO, and NovoNorm elsewhere. In Japan it is produced by Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma.

Adverse effects

  •     Seizure (convulsions);
  •     Severe pain in your upper stomach spreading to your back, nausea and vomiting, fast heart rate;
  •     Pale or yellowed skin, dark colored urine, fever, confusion or weakness; or
  •     Fever, sore throat, and headache with a severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash.

Less serious side effects of repaglinide may include:

  •     Runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, cough, cold or flu symptoms;
  •     Diarrhea, nausea;
  •     Back pain, headache;
  •     Dizziness;
  •     Blurred vision;
  •     Joint pain; or
  •     Temporary hair loss.
